Black Sticks star Gemma Flynn has opened up about her upcoming wedding to Richie McCaw.
At a Pink Ribbon breakfast event in Auckland, the hockey star and glamorous fiancee donned an apron to prepare breakfast and laughed as she detailed her husband-to-be's "signature dish".

"Ribs and a green salad. An iceberg green salad, topped with, um, cheddar... and seasonal new potatoes," she told TVNZ's Toni Street with the pair having a giggle at Richie's expense.
The charity breakfasts - which aim to raise funds for the breast cancer foundation - hit close to home for the 25-year-old sports star whose grandmother has twice battled the disease.

The Olympian, who is in training for Rio, admitted wedding planning has been placed on the back burner while the Olympics take top priority. Her high-profile fiance, who has retired from first-class sport, is fully involved in their upcoming nuptials but has stopped short of perusing bridal magazines.
Gemma insists Richie is involved with some aspects of the wedding planning.
"The food," she said. "He doesn't want anyone to go hungry."

Flynn and her Black Sticks teammates are gearing up for the Rio Olympics. Having retired from rugby, Richie is now able to devote more time to supporting Gemma and watching her succeed.
Of the 25 women in the Black Sticks training squad, only 16 will travel to Brazil. Every day of training is "full on," Flynn said. "It's really hard for those ones that do miss out."
She confessed the extra attention that comes with being the other half of one of the world's top sports stars is sometimes challenging, but she believes there's no way to please everyone.

"If you put yourself out there [on social media] you have to be prepared that not everyone is going to be positive about everything you do. It does chip away, I guess. But it's much you let it [get to you]."
Despite their A-list status in New Zealand, and throughout the sporting world, Gem admits she and Richie are just regular Kiwis.
"We don't live any differently to anyone else in New Zealand. We still do the exact same things and enjoy the small things in life as well. Life hasn't changed too much."
