HBO
Sunday's highly anticipated season 6 return of Emmy
Award-winning Game Of Thrones has broken HBO's overall audience record
to stream or watch the fantasy drama's latest episode live. Fans who
haven't caught up or watched the latest episode, however, will probably
spend all week with their ears plugged and meticulously tiptoe their way around the internet to avoid pesky spoilers that lurk online.
Still, you are always one misjudged tweet or Facebook post away from spoiling an entire episode.
While adopting the extreme option of staying off the
internet might be your safest bet, you can try GameofSpoils, a free
Google Chrome extension that hides every mention of the show from your
browser. The easy-to-use extension scans your web pages and blacks out
any news stories and mentions of Game Of Thrones on Facebook, Reddit,
Twitter and Google News. It also scrubs any mention of GoT-related terms
including "Winterfell," "Westeros" or "Targaryen." Any GoT search
result or social post will be covered with a banner warning that a
potential spoiler has been hidden.
The extension does allow you to view the blocked post by
clicking on them, but it will take three seconds to reveal, giving you
ample time to look away or slam your laptop shut in case of accidental
clicking or if you have a change of heart.
