The White House was put on lockdown on Wednesday for the second time
in 24 hours after someone threw a package containing a mobile phone and
paper over the fence. According to reporters at the presidential
mansion, President Barack Obama was inside at the time of the incident.
On Tuesday, the White House was locked down after a man believed to
be fleeing a crime scene jumped the fence. The man was detained and the
location reopened after Secret Service agents cleared the area.
Reporters in the press briefing room tweeted about the situation just after 11am local time. The situation was reportedly over
quickly as sources told CNN the person who threw the package over the
fence was taken into custody.
