Pakistan have dropped opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad and wicketkeeper
Umar Akmal from the list of probables for the tour of England due to
their poor form and past indiscipline. The list of players for the
upcoming tour was announced by the new selection committee headed by
batting legend Inzamam-ul-Haq.
Former T20 skipper Shahid Afridi was dropped from the Twenty20 squad, with the selectors keen on building a new team following their early exit at the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2016.
Speaking to the media at Lahore, Inzamam said: "Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal have not been included in the training camp taking into view their past disciplinary record. Neither is their discipline good nor their recent performances consistent and impressive."
The former Pakistan captain has time and again spoke about the disciplinary issues plaguing the team and that he would be firm on such misdeamenours.
"We now have to ensure there is no compromise on discipline if we are to move forward. I also call on the media to support us in our decisions. Let me make one thing clear this selection committee is totally independent. The board gives us guidelines but in the end it is our decision on who to select and who not to select."

Afridi, who resigned as the skipper of the T20 team, was criticised over his captaincy style, with former coach Waqar Younis
directly blaming him for the team's early exit from the recent ICC
event. While not selecting him for the solitary T20 against England,
Inzamam refused to rule him out of the reckoning for a place in the
side.
"We are looking at building a new team for the T20 format but Shahid will be considered later on if necessary."
The Pakistan team will be next seen in action in July when they tour England for a four Tests, five ODIs and a solitary T20.
