Police arrest 63 kidnappers in Rivers
… Rescue 9 victims

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested 63 kidnap suspects in the state. The command also stated that nine victims were rescued by security operatives.
Among the lucky victims were four expatriates from Thailand, Somchok Panpind, B. U. Tsaya Sripanya, Thanavu Phan Phint and Chaiyan Taichomphu, who were kidnapped in Buguma in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state on August 9.
Briefing journalists yesterday, at the command headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, said the feat was recorded in August.
Mbu stated that 16 kidnap cases were recorded last month, stating that 63 suspects were arrested and nine kidnap/robbery suspects were killed.
Also 29 suspects, according to the commissioner of police, had been charged to court.
The police boss said several items were recovered from the suspected kidnappers, robbers and cultists during the month under review.
They included 20 vehicles, several AK 47 and 49 rifles, arms and ammunition, marine outboard engine, laptops, GSM phones, N1million cash and assorted charms.
