Heartbreaking footage of a monkey
A footage has emerged showing a mokey with a chain tied on it's neck, being forced by it's trainer to lift weights, dunk a basket ball and do sit-ups for tourists in Thailand.
The monkey named Ning Nang can be seen in the video released by Animal rights group, PETA Asia, lifting a mini barbell complete with weights above its head while it's trainer counts in English.
Acording to PETA Asia, teeths of monkeys are removed at young age, so they can be forced to perform activities without being able to bite back or defend themselves against a trainer.

Jason Baker, a PETA Senior Vice President, said: "Videos like the one we've just released are helping to change public opinion.
“Forcing wild animals to perform is no longer the way to draw a crowd, but there's still much work to be done.

"All travel companies need to stop promoting cruel shows and zoos, and tourists should stop buying tickets to them, opting instead to see animals in their natural habitats-the only place where they belong."

Billy Porter

Billy Porter attends the 25th Annual Critics' Choice Awards held at Barker Hangar on Jan. 12, 2020 in Santa Monica, Calif.
Dreams do come true, and it doesn't matter who brings them to life because "magic has no gender." That's Billy Porter's main takeaway from his Fairy Godmother role in the 2021 live-action remake of Cinderella, starring Camila Cabello as the titular princess.
In an interview with CBS News, the Pose star delved into his gender-inclusive twist on the classic character. "It hit me when I was on set last week how profound it is that I am playing the fairy godmother; they call it the 'Fab G.' Magic has no gender. We are presenting this character as genderless -- at least that’s how I’m playing it -- and it’s really powerful."
The 50-year-old actor is not only ready to grant Cabello some wishes, but also to breathe new life into this classic fairytale character, which he senses the younger audience will easily embrace.
"This is a classic, this is a classic fairytale for a new generation. I think that the new generation is really ready. The kids are ready. It’s the grown-ups that are slowing stuff down."
Cinderella, which is directed by Kay Cannon (Blockers) and produced by James Corden, is currently being filmed in England before its highly anticipated Feb. 5, 2021, release date.

Miley Cyrus attends the Tom Ford AW20 Show at Milk Studios on Feb. 7, 2020 in Hollywood, Calif.
Miley Cyrus is heading down under next week (March 13) to headline a bushfire relief concert in Melbourne, where she will be joined by performers Lil Nas X, The Veronicas and Seb Fontaine.
Ahead of her performance, Cyrus chatted with Australian news station Sunrise about the special connection she has with the country for the past decade, as she was previously married to Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth.
"Australia has been such a major part of my life for the last 10 to 12 years. It’s kind of been a home away from my home for me," Cyrus explained. "The first time I went to Australia, I really fell in love with it. I was there on a tour, and we had a couple days off and I got to explore. More than, almost anywhere in the world, I think I’ve had more of a personal relationship with it because of the amount of time I’ve been able to spend there."
Additionally, Cyrus can sympathize with the victims of the devastating wildfires; her home in Malibu was destroyed in 2018 due to fires.
"I lost my home in Malibu a couple of years ago, and we were really lucky that we were able to get our animals out safely, and there were a lot of them. Not everyone was as fortunate," she said before adding that she also lost "all my journals, lost a lot of the music and demos."
However, she concluded on a positive note, recalling that she "had seen one of my favorite artists, Mr. Brainwash, at an art gallery and I told him, ‘Man, I lost all my art.’ And he goes, ‘You will make more.’ And I thought, ‘You know what, that’s right, I’ll just make more.’ And that’s the same thing with memories, losing memories, losing things, you’ll make more."

Another prototype of SpaceX's Starship rocket exploded during a pressure test at the company's construction yard in Boca Chica, Texas. It was the second such explosion at the Texas site in the past four months.
It wasn't clear if the company knew it would explode, but such testing is designed to find the structural limits of rocket components. SpaceX founder Elon Musk laughed it off on Twitter after posting a video of the Friday night incident.
"It's fine, we'll just buff it out," Musk tweeted.
The tests are done using supercooled liquid. Images captured by independent videographers from outside the plant -- LabPadre and SPadre on YouTube -- showed the bottom of the rocket test article dumping vapor from the liquid before the structure shot up into the air in a bigger cloud of vapor.
The company previously tested a similar structure to failure in November.
SpaceX has been working toward flight design for the stainless steel rocket, according to Musk.
In November, Musk said he hoped to reach Earth orbit with a Starship prototype in about six months, with human passengers by next year. The company has plans to go to the moon and Mars, and to use Starship for planetary commercial flights.

Health authorities have assured New Zealanders there is no rationing of testing for the Covid-19 coronavirus, with capacity to test hundreds of patients a day.In the latest update this afternoon, Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield said there was still just the one confirmed case of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
Dr Bloomfield said there had been 155 tests carried out, with just one returning a positive result, and there were 31 tests under way.
He said one of the two tests he had mentioned yesterday had come back negative. Later this afternoon the second case also returned as negative.
"We still assess our likelihood of a widespread community outbreak is low," Dr Bloomfield said.
A researcher works in a lab that is developing testing for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

He said all the testing of New Zealanders for Covid-19 were being done in New Zealand.
He said information was being collected at the border from those people coming from places of concern, including South Korea and northern Italy.
"We are particularly concerned about Iran ... and anyone who came in from Iran in the last 14 days we are strongly suggesting they go into isolation."
He said New Zealand would also be upping the presence of health staff at the border, not to do screening but to improve the information being offered.

Healthline had more than 1600 calls yesterday, the biggest volume it has faced so far, Dr Bloomfield said.
He pleaded with people to be patient and judicious in their calling to make sure that the people who needed to access it could do so. He advised people making travel plans to use the Safetravel website.
"This is a trust arrangement, but ... everybody here is very clear that self-isolation is an expectation."
Dr Michelle Balm, clinical leader for infection services at Capital & Coast DHB, said while they had been asked about possible rationing of testing, there was capacity to test more than 500 patients a day through ESR and several large laboratories.
"There is easily the capacity for testing and this can also be ramped up over the next few weeks."
Dr Balm said if people were worried they were infected, they should not front up at an emergency department or a primary care provider, and should call the healthline instead.
"We know that's it's not a good idea to test asymptomatic people on the current evidence available. It is likely to give a false sense of security."
She earlier said DHBs were being advised by the Ministry of Health to only test for Covid-19 if the patient meets the clinical and epidemiological criteria.
The clinical criteria includes a fever, or a history of fever which has been equal to or above 38°C, and an acute respiratory infection, with at least one of the following symptoms: shortness of breath, cough, or sore throat.
They must also have travelled to or from countries of concern within 14 days before the onset of illness, or have come within close contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 within 14 days before the onset of illness.
The areas of concern are mainland China, Iran, northern Italy or the Republic of Korea.
Dr Balm said the large majority of people turning up at hospital asking to be tested for Covid-19 did not meet those criteria.
"Around three per day present with Covid-19-type symptoms that fall far short of the case definition, and another five per day who have no symptoms and do not meet any of the case definition," she said.
"Our doctors are confident that testing is not appropriate on these occasions."
The opposition has criticised the government's claim there has been "textbook response" to the outbreak, saying there were still questions about screening and the availability of tests.
Health Minister David Clark said decisions about who could get tested were based on clinical assessments, and he was "very confident" it was not a case of rationing.
So far, only one case has been confirmed in New Zealand. The woman had returned from Iran via Bali and was recovering in hospital in Auckland.
Total infections worldwide have topped 90,000, with deaths now over 3100. Nearly all cases and deaths have been in China but the numbers in Iran, Italy and South Korea have continued to grow.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern yesterday announced people travelling via Italy and South Korea would have to go into isolation for two weeks upon arrival.
Visitors travelling from mainland China and Iran are barred from entering the country, while citizens and permanent residents from those places are being asked to go into isolation.

“Did you see her excitement when she heard that the prize money this year was 45 million Naira?”

The 165-year-old clothing manufacturer shows off F.L.X., a platform that uses lasers to replicate vintage denim, in this 360-degree tour of their Eureka Lab.

It's no secret that the broken-in look on a pair of blue jeans rarely comes from actually wearing them. Walk into any clothing store and you'll have your pick of styles with fade patterns and maybe even a few fashionable rips.

For decades brands typically have achieved that sought-after look by treating the denim by hand, using large amounts of chemicals. But recently the Eureka Lab, Levi Strauss's innovation center in San Francisco, has developed a new method of making jeans that relies less on manual labor and more on some advanced technology.

The F.L.X. Project, a digital platform Levi's launched last year, entails photographing old jeans with an iPad, then using a laser to duplicate the imperfections on a freshly manufactured pair. Whereas creating wear patterns by hand takes 20 to 30 minutes per pair, the laser rig completes the task in about 90 seconds.

In its lab, Levi's has jeans dating back nearly a century that can serve as inspiration for new creations, providing virtually limitless customization options. The lab also can make near-clones of the original version, down to its wear patterns, fade lines, and tears.

"[It] nearly exactly replicates the vintage jean that inspired it," says Bart Sights, the lab's head of technical innovation.

Inc. visited the Eureka Lab to watch the new process in action. Check out the 360-degree video above to see how a tablet and a laser can create pants that look like they're from the 1930s in less than two minutes.

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says his friends are entitled to be rich.

He said this in Lagos during an interactive session with the business community.

Atiku was asked to respond to Eurasia Group’s analysis on him enriching his cronies if he gets elected and he said he was happy that the group did not say he would enrich himself or his family.

The presidential candidate said his friends are entitled to be rich as long as there’s no element of corruption.
“I’m happy that they didn’t say I will enrich myself, or the members of my family but my friends, are my friends not entitled to be enriched? As long as there’s no element of corruption in there.”

If it's a white Christmas in the Siberian town of Myski, suspicious residents might want to look around for some empty cans of paint.

The mining town's mayor has apologized after it was discovered that the snow on a children's sledding hill was painted white -- apparently to cover coal dust.

Mayor Dmitry Ivanov said the chief of the company responsible for the town’s development has been reprimanded for painting the hill white, according to a statement on the town's official website on December 19.

"I apologize to residents whose New Year's mood has been spoiled by this incident," Ivanov said in the statement.

In Russia, the big New Year's holiday is followed by Orthodox Christmas on January 7.

The apology and reprimand came after videos posted online showed parents who brought their children to the sledding hill saying it was covered with white paint.

In a tradition said to date back to Potemkin villages of the tsarist era, local officials eager to make a good impression sometimes have features like fences and building facades freshly painted ahead of visits by leaders.

Man filmed smashing glass on message board at Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Manhattan.

An Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Manhattan was vandalized earlier this week, when a man walking past the house of prayer smashed glass covering a synagogue message board.

The incident occurred at the Adereth El synagogue on East 29th Street, near Lexington Avenue, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Monday night.

Officials at the synagogue later found that the message board on the building’s exterior had been damaged.

Security camera footage of the incident shows two men walking past the synagogue, when all of the sudden one man approaches the building and slams his elbow into the glass case. The two then walk off, appearing to celebrate the suspect’s act of vandalism.

Synagogue officials filed a report with the New York Police Department, and an investigation has been opened into the incident.

Things are tightening up at Turner Media and, as Deadline reports, the latest victim is Super Deluxe Studios.

Super Deluxe launched as a digital comedy hub for Turner Broadcasting System back in 2006, and served as a platform for talented-but-green creators looking to make a name for themselves. With a pronounced bend toward alternative comedy, Super Deluxe put out early videos from the likes of Zach Galifianakis, Maria Bamford, Chelsea Peretti, and Tim and Eric.

After Super Deluxe petered out, Turner rebranded it in 2015 as “a tech incubator,” still producing comedy videos but chasing the same mobile ubiquity as its Funny or Die peers. The refurbished studio teamed up with a new wave of creators, including Joanna the Scammer, Jamie Loftus, and warped political comedy wizard Vic Berger. In addition, it released regular series like Cheap Thrills and Mansplaining.

Super Deluxe had been branching out at the time of its shuttering, with deaf dramedy series This Close on Sundance Now (a second season is currently in production) and a series order at Netflix for a Stephan Gaghan-produced supernatural drama, Chambers, which is still scheduled for 2019.

The axing is another sign of consolidation at Time Warner, following the shutdown earlier this week of its Korean drama streamer DramaFever. It looks like the ongoing trend of throwing money toward becoming the next monolithic content provider has the unfortunate side effect of squeezing out the (weird) beloved little guy.

Over six and a half million Ivorian voters took part in municipal and regional elections on Saturday to choose nearly 200 mayors and 31 regional councils.

The vote comes less than two years to the country’s presidential election in 2020 and also end to a campaign period marked by tension.

About 30,000 police, gendarmes and soldiers were deployed across the country to ensure voters exercised their franchise.

About 400 independent candidates are taking part in the elections some of whom were supported by Guillaume Soro, officially a member of the RDR.

The president of Ivory Coast’s national assembly Soro has not hidden his ambition to contest as a presidential candidate in the 2020 presidential election.

Satursday’s election witnessed President Alassane Ouattara’s Rally of the Republicans and the Democratic Party of Cote d’ivoire whose leader is former president, Henri Konan Bedie contesting against each other after ending their coalition alliance.

Meanwhile, loyal supporters of former president, Laurent Gbagbo boycotted Saturday’s elections.

Take up the mantle of Lo Wang a second time
By Cohen Coberly,
In brief: In true Good Old Games fashion, the company is handing out another well-received game for free: Shadow Warrior 2. The offer is good for the next 48-hours, and the game is entirely DRM-free and available for offline play or installation across multiple computers. No clients or third-party software are needed to give it a whirl.
If you haven't tried Wild Hog's fast-paced, adrenaline and joke-filled shooter/slasher action franchise Shadow Warrior yet -- published by Devolver Digital, of course -- now is the perfect time to do so.

While the first game will still cost you about $40, its sequel, aptly named Shadow Warrior 2, is now available at the low, low price of $0 on Good Old Games (GOG). If you've been a GoG user for an extended length of time, this probably won't come as a surprise.

As one of the most consumer-friendly storefronts out there, GoG regularly hands out game freebies, and virtually of the titles on its platform are entirely DRM-free and available for offline play. Shadow Warrior 2 fits both of those categories, and it's being handed out as part of GoG's 10-year anniversary celebration.

We've included some footage of the game above so you can see if it's your cup of tea, but given that it's free, you don't have much to lose by at least adding it to your GoG library.

If you decide to play it at some point in the future, there are two main methods of doing so. The first option is to download a "backup copy" of the game from the GoG website or the GoG Galaxy client. Once installed, this copy can be played at any time, with no need to be logged in to Galaxy. Furthermore, they can be installed across multiple computers, with no limitations that I'm aware of.

Alternatively, you can download it directly through Galaxy, unlocking achievements, an in-game overlay, and a few other features. However, like Steam, you typically need to be logged in to the client to play games this way.

You can give Shadow Warrior 2 a whirl right now by visiting its official GoG store page. The free offer is good for the next 48 hours.
