Asari Dokubo Freed After 36 Hours in Beninoise Detention

Asari-DokuboAfter spending at least 36 hours in the detention of Beninoise gendarmes, leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has regained freedom and has returned to Abuja.
Dokubo was arrested on Tuesday by the Beninoise police in Conotou over what may be connected to militant activities.
His released was facilitated by President Goodluck Jonathan who personally intervened on his behalf with the Beninoise President Yayi Boni.
Festus Keyamo, a civil rights activist and personal attorney to Mr. Dokubo confirmed his release to Saharareporters.
President Jonathan reportedly deployed a jet to ferry Mr. Asari to Abuja a few hours after his release.
