The absence of president Goodluck Jonathan from office is said to be stalling submission of the reports of the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue.
This is coming just as there exists sharp division amongst members of the panel regarding contents of the recommendations to be submitted to the Federal Government on the process and modalities for the proposed dialogue.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Femi Okunrounmu in a telephone chat with LEADERSHIP yesterday stated that his panel had concluded its assignment and that members were only waiting for the availability of President Jonathan who travelled to South Africa.
“We have concluded our job, we would have submitted our reports but for the non-availability of the President,” Okurounmu said just as he feigned ignorance of any form of disagreement within the panel on its findings.
“I am not aware of any quarrel within our panel, nothing like that exists at least to the best of my knowledge,” the Abeokuta born ex-lawmaker stated.
His claim was however punctured by another member, Chief Solomon Asemota who opted that all seems not too well within.
In yet another telephone chat, Asemota who replaced elder statesman, Professor Ben Nwabueze feigned ignorance of the activities of the panel, saying “As I am talking to you, I am in Abuja right now. I just came back, so I don’t know what is happening within the committee.”
According to the Edo State born lawyer, he hopes to go ahead with the presentation of the minority reports to the President as reported by a national daily.
When pressed further on the issues in his dissent, he stated that “I don’t intend to make it a media affair anymore but I will go ahead with my minority reports.”
