by: The Citizen The Imo State government has dismissed suggestions of a rift between Governor Rochas Okorocha and his deputy, Prince Eze Madumere.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Theodore Ekechi, who made the rebuttal while fielding questions from journalists in Owerri, described the rumour of a rift between both personalities as baseless.
According to him, only prophets of doom are imagining that the cordial relationship between the governor and his deputy had gone sour.
Ekechi also said the major policy of Rochas Okorocha’s administration was to identify and address the immediate needs of the citizenry.
He equally affirmed that since the government was run by human beings, it never laid any claim to infallibility.
Ekechi said: “What the Rescue Mission stands for is to identify and address the people’s immediate needs, tackle them to control the situation and later seek ways of perfection.”
On the criticisms trailing the roads constructed by the administration, the commissioner said “government may have constructed roads deemed to be inferior but what is important is that such roads have helped in ameliorating the transportation problems of the citizenry.”
Dr. Ekechi recalled that Okorocha, in the past two and a half years, embarked on massive projects at the same time, promising that the projects would be completed this year.
On why there’s palpable cash squeeze in the state, Ekechi said the governor did not believe in sharing money to political godfathers.
“This administration does not believe in sharing money to politicians and godfathers. Governor Okorocha believes in spending money to lay strong economic base that will ultimately redistribute wealth in the state,” he said.
