State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Katsina while parading the suspects, disclosed that four other suspects were arrested for alleged fraud and forgery.
Katsina said that the suspected cult members were arrested while initiating new members into the “black axe” confraternity.
“These suspects were arrested for forgery of documents purportedly emanating from banks as proof of payment thereby defrauding unsuspecting members of the public who engage in any financial transaction with them,” he said.
Katsina said the police also recovered the equipment used for the forgeries, and three fake bank tellers, with N82, 000.
“Immediately after the Christmas season, I launched ‘Operation whirlwind’, intended to embark on a massive onslaught against criminality in the command.
“Our aim is to create a secure environment for the ordinary people who cannot afford sophisticated security measures,” he said.
