Niger Delta: JTF Releases Arrested Vessels To Owners

The Joint Task Force (JTF) operating in Niger Delta has set free two suspected vessels, with one carrying 282, 000 litres of diesel worth N46.53 million.
The two vessels with registration MV Ebba and MT Askja Rotterdam respectively, were arrested along creeks in Rivers State on suspicion of transporting petroleum products without permit.
The JTF commander, Major General Iliyasu Abba, made the announcement yesterday during the release of the two vessels to its owners in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
Abba, who was represented by Major Badmus Adebayo, also released nine crew members from the two vessels to their employers.
He said, “MV Ebba, which had 282, 000 litres of diesel was arrested in Oct. 2013 on suspicion of involvement in illegal oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta.
