Minister Of Information And Supervising Minister For Defence, Mr Labaran Maku has Apologised to Fulanis

over comments comparing political prostittutes like Atiku Abubakar who jump from one political party to another to the nomadic northern ethnic group. The Statement by the Minister's Chief Press Secretary Joe Mutuah, made available to press men reads in Part:

"The Minister wishes to make it clear that the word nomadic was used as a normative term to describe the incessant movement of some of our politicians from one party to another but not to denigrate the Fulani nomads,"

“I have no intention, whatsoever, to disrespect Fulani nomads with whom I have shared intimacy and excellent relationships since childhood.’’

The minister said he however regretted any pain his statement might have caused.

We recall Mr. Maku had told journalists while reacting to the recent jumpology of some politicians:

“I want to urge journalists to begin to monitor these movements, more so as some of them have been moving for years now – they have not stopped, they are like the Fulani nomads. They move from one party to another without shame. It shouldn't be something that we should cherish.”

My Candid Advice To Hon. Maku Is That He Should Choose His Words Carefully To Avoid Occasions That Is Tantamount To "Mouth Diarrhea" Which Of Course Leads To The Situation Of "Had I Known" Apology Is Good But The Damages Would Have Been Done.

So Politicians Should Show Caution When They Talk.
