Du Plessis keen to add speed up the run rate a little, clearly looking for the boundary.

It's just very nearly midday and the South Africans have racked up their first hundred from 20 overs. Amla (48* from 67 balls) is looking to play the anchor while Du Plessis plays the aggressor (27* from 22 balls) 

Daniel Vettori has come into the attack and suffocated the run-rate somewhat; conceding just six runs from his first two overs, but South Africa are in commanding position. Nothing more, nothing less.

That wicket hasn't really stopped the flow of runs. In fact quite the contrary. 300 could be on the cards here.

An eventful five overs... Boult strikes De Kock on the hand a vicious short-ball, Vettori completely misreads a top edge chance at fine leg and Guptill very nearly runs out De Kock with a fine bit of fielding. But still no wicket.. Amla now looking very dangerous and De Kock over his nasty blow.

10:52am - Missed Chance

First chance goes begging for the Black Caps with an Amla edge going in between the keeper Ronchi and first slipper Latham. Inexplicable that no one moved and hard luck for Southee.

10:50am - Solid start for South Africa

Trent Boult went for nine runs in the first over of the day but since then New Zealand have contained Amla and De Kock well. Tim Southee is looking good in his return from a shoulder injury, with his two overs costing just three runs thus far.

10:05am - McCullum wins the toss!

That's right! Baz has finally won a toss at home and New Zealand will bowl first. The New Zealand captain says it was easier to bat as the day wore on in the first match and it's hard to argue with that logic.

Mitchell McClenaghan and Tim Southee replace Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum for New Zealand while David Miller comes in for Rile Rossouw.

Conditions are fine at the fine at the Mount and we are set to start at 10:30am sharp. Stay tuned.

Welcome to our live coverage of the second day one-day international between the Black Caps and South Africa from Bay Oval at Mount Maunganui.
Today we intend to bring you regular updates of all the action and video highlights of some of the key moments as the Black Caps look to square the series.
Tim Southee's availability will mean a change to the bowling attack New Zealand fielded on Tuesday, with Kyle Mills most at risk of losing his place.
For South Africa, if David Miller is passed fit he could replace Rile Rossouw.
