Shoppers searching Walmart's site for plus-sized Halloween apparel yesterday were directed to the controversial section.
The company removed the title after it was up for two hours - enough time for shoppers to highlight the issue on social media.
The company has issued apologies to both individual Twitter users and international media, describing the label as "unacceptable".
"This never should have been on our site. It is unacceptable, and we apologise. We are working to remove it as soon as possible and ensure this never happens again," a Walmart spokesperson said.
