As there is always two sides to a story, this former Catholic school
tutor’s excuse for the allegations against her regarding sex with a
15-year-old boy, may be the worst we have heard yet. She is now claiming
that she was the victim in the relationship, not the young boy.
The tutor, Abigail Simon, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, has recently
told the court that the boy was the one who initiated sexual contact.
Instead of her being the guilty party, the boy had forced her to have
sex with him, according to her testimony.
Since she is facing four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, it is hard to believe that the sentence she is facing has no impact on her account of the events.
According to NY Daily News, Simon said that “she had been afraid to report the relationship before because she knew she would not be believed.” Maybe if she had thought about saying this since the beginning, we could believe her – maybe.
The relationship – regardless as to whether it was forced by him or not – had been discovered by the boy’s mother, who had found racy pictures of Simon on her son’s cell phone. Making her most recent claims even more difficult to believe, there were texts sent from her to the boy proclaiming that she loved him.
Her explanation for those texts was that she wanted to “appease the controlling teen.” She even claims that the boy hit her for giving other students attention. In her testimony regarding the boys behavior, Simon stated, “I said it was a slap in my face for me saying that, then he slapped me in the face and said ‘that’s a slap in the face.'”
In order to paint the picture for anyone who will believe her version of the story, she insists that the “220-pound domineering boy raped her three times in her apartment and car.”
Thinking clearly and seeing the absurdity of Simon’s claims, Prosecutor Helen Brinkman states, “Sex between Simon and the boy was consensual and would have continued if Simon had not been caught.”
Simon got upset with Brinkman’s statements, crying and putting on a show.
The boy, who originally told police that he was the aggressor, later claimed that he was lying to protect Simon. Even if the boy was the aggressor, there’s no excuse for encouraging and being receptive to his advances, as evident by the text messages and photos on the boy’s phone. Regardless of who was the aggressor, there should never be a sexual relationship between a student and someone in a position off athority, like a tutor.
If this was truly happening as Simon claims, why did she keep going back?
