A little over three months have passed since the controversial shooting of Michael Brown, and the Missouri Grand Jury has yet to reach a verdict. A group called RbG Black Rebels has decided to take matters into their own hands.
On Aug. 9, an unarmed black teenager was gunned down in Ferguson, Missouri, by police officer Darren Wilson. News about the incident spread like wildfire throughout the country, with some witnesses claiming that Brown was standing with his hands up before being shot six times, while others claiming he was attacking officer Wilson.
Since then, thousands have protested in Ferguson and around the world. Gov. Jay Nixon has even declared a State of Emergency, keeping the National Guard ready in case riots occur.
A State of Emergency would be an accurate way to describe Ferguson at the moment, as a group calling itself RbG Black Rebels put what some are considering a bounty on Wilson’s head.
The group posted on Twitter: “We are paying $5k cash for the location of Ofc. Darren Wilson. Real $, no joke, no crime we just wana get his photo an ask him a few questions.”
The RbG Black Rebels have described themselves as a “Militant Resistance” to a “corrupt police state,” according to Daily Mail. They also insist that the incendiary tweet posted on Nov. 9 was not a bounty, though following tweets about “gun stores emptying out” and “restocking on 7.62 and 9mm ammo” might suggest otherwise.
