Jealousy can make people do some crazy things, but the story about a 43-year-old woman’s jealousy is undoubtedly the most extreme case in the world. Debbi Wood has been dubbed the world’s “most jealous” woman, and after reading about what she did to her fiancé, you’ll realize why. According to MailOnline, she suffers from a delusional disorder called Othello syndrome, which makes her paranoid beyond belief.
On Halloween, the couple tied the knot after dating since 2011, but her now-husband, 31-year-old Steve, had to go to extremely great lengths in order to prove himself worthy to the emotionally scarred woman.
Leading up to their wedding, Debbi forced Steve to take a lie detector test daily, so he could prove he wasn’t unfaithful. In addition, she scours through his emails, checks over his bank statements and reads through his phone records to look for inconsistencies. Oh, and we can’t forget that she regularly goes through his laptop, which has the same filters installed that parents use for their children.
“Sometimes, I get nervous and the lie detector test results come back inconclusive because my heart is hammering, which makes Debbi doubt me. I just have to tell her I haven’t cheated and pray she believes me,” Steve told the Mirror.
Debbi’s extreme case of paranoia comes from being dumped in a previous relationship and being so heartbroken that she swore she’d never allow another man in her life. Doctors insist the emotional trauma from the breakup is what triggered her to behave so irrationally with Steve.
Steve can’t even look at good-looking women on television or in magazines, but he’s perfectly fine with it. To him, Debbi is his world and he’s willing to forgo such things.
Along with Othello syndrome, Debbi suffers from dysmorphic and bipolar disorders, which only add to her extreme self-doubt and paranoia. Even with all of her flaws, true love between the two can’t be hindered and Steve told MailOnline why he’s willing to deal with her over-the-top behaviors.
“I’m willing to put up with it, because I know we’re soul-mates. She’s so special to me and a bit of jealousy here and there won’t change that.”
Do you think you could ever deal with jealousy on this level? Let us know in the comments!
