Bernd Brandes was killed in 2001 after posting an advert online called ‘Dinner – or your dinner’. In it, he offered ‘the chance to eat me alive’.
And now Meiwes has spoken about how he went about it for a documentary ‘Docs: Interview with a Cannibal’.
Clearly a romantic at heart, he said he ‘decorated the table with nice candles.’

‘The first bite was, of course, very strange. It was a feeling I can’t really describe. I’d spent over 40 years longing for it, dreaming about it.
‘And now I was getting the feeling that I was actually achieving this perfect inner connection through his flesh. The flesh tastes like pork but stronger.’

One thing led to another and Brandes took a bath while Meiwes read him a Star Trek novel before eventually stabbing him in the neck to kill him.

Oh, and he filmed it all, but documentary makers have decided not to include that part.
Meiwes became obsessed with cannibalism as a teenager but only acted on it after the death of his mother and found chatrooms where people would offer themselves up.
He was arrested in December 2002 and told police that the meat in his freezer belonged to a wild pig.
During his trial he said Brandes ‘came to me of his own free will to end his life. For him, it was a nice death.’
He served eight years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter in 2004. We was later retried for murder and is serving a life sentence. He is now believed to be a vegetarian.
