All
Blacks Andy Ellis and Wyatt Crockett will make their first pre-season
appearances for the Crusaders in their second game, against the
Highlanders.
Ellis will start at halfback while prop Crockett is
on the reserves bench for their match against the defending champions on
Thursday in Waimumu, near Gore.
The team will led by All Blacks lock Sam Whitelock.
Coach Todd Blackadder wants his side to build on
their impressive pre-season opener in Brisbane last weekend, where they
steamrolled the Reds 31-3.
"We were really pleased with some of what we saw, especially considering it was only game one for so many players," he said.
"It
was really pleasing to see some of the new, young players really step
up and also to see some of our more experienced players showing
leadership and making an impact in their own areas.
"I'm
looking forward to having another look at some of those players and
combinations this week, and also to trying out some new combinations."
