Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has backed Manchester City to bounce back stronger against Tottenham after suffering a 3-1 home defeat to Leicester City at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
Manchester City are now fourth in the Premier League table, six points behind Leicester City.
“We have to treat it like a cup final and give everything we have in the game,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.
“They have quality players and are second in the league so we have to fight them right to the final whistle.
“Everyone is sad that we lost last week and we have to put that behind us and move on. History was made that day but it’s not in our mind.”
The 19-year-old who has scored eight goals this season could make City’s starting line-up but maintained he is ready to work harder to earn regular play.
“I need to listen to everybody and work hard,” he said.
“I will try to impress everybody – the manager, the team, the fans – and to do that I have to work hard every day.”
Meanwhile, former Manchester City striker, Paul Dickov, has tipped Kelechi Iheanacho as one of the youngster new coach Pep Guardiola would build the team around next season.
“Pep will be watching Iheanacho and will be excited about the prospect of managing him,” he said.
“I remember when Pep was at Barcelona, he got rid of Yaya Toure to bring a young Sergio Busquets in. At the time, people thought he was crazy to do it but it proved the right decision.
“All the youngsters at City now, with the way the club’s going and the investment they’ve had in the academy, are starting to believe they’ll get their chance. As much as they can go and buy the top players in the world, they want to bring through top talent as well.”
