Massive chandelier falls onto diners at Raymond Blanc restaurant

A huge chandelier crashed down in the middle of Sunday lunch at one of Raymond Blanc’s restaurants, showering diners with glass.
Somehow the circular black light fitting, pictured above, came loose and plunged down in scenes reminiscent of the Phantom of the Opera.
The fixture measures 10 ft across and held dozens of bulbs in glass casing before most of them shattered yesterday.
People at Brasserie Blanc in Buckinghamshire were ‘terrified’ with several receiving cuts in the fall.
A spokesman for the South Central Ambulance Service said an ambulance was sent to the London End restaurant to treat up to 10 people.

Thankfully, no-one was seriously injured.
The restaurant has launched an investigation into what caused the chandelier to fall.
A spokesperson for Brasserie Blanc said: ‘The health and safety of our guests is paramount. Our restaurants are designed and built to adhere to the strictest building regulations.
