A man’s body has been found close to a coastal paddling pool in Hartlepool.
The body was discovered at around 11.20am yesterday, and police are trying to identify the man.
A passer-by told the Hartlepool Mail: ‘There are loads of scene of crime officers there and the coastguard too.
‘People are saying that they have never seen as many police in the area at one time.’
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said a ‘special post-mortem’ was being carried out to try and identify the man.
The body was found in the Headland at Heugh Breakwater.
