Mac, being a cosmetics firm, posted a picture of a (completely gorgeous) model showing off a shade of their lipstick.
And racist trolls, being racist trolls, couldn’t take it.
Earlier this week, Mac shared an up close shot of Aamito Lagum’s pout in a rather fetching shade which they call Matte Royal.
The post quickly attracted the dregs of society who left deeply offensive comments referencing Lagum’s appearance and ethnicity.

Currently, the post has amassed more than 30,000 comments. Most of which are calling out earlier posters’ racism.
She responded: ‘My lips giving you sleepless nights. On @maccosmetics IG.
‘Thankyou @maccosmetics for this killer color and to that makeup artist .ama get me 3 of these..’ One of her fans even sent her some artwork reflecting the incident.

Many people on social media were quick to point out the double
standards of a black model receiving criticism for her fuller lips,
while stars like Kylie Jenner cosmetically enhance their pout and start a
trend successful enough to release a line of beauty products.
Lagum, full name Aamito Stacie Lagum, is a 23-year-old model from Uganda.
She’s best known for winning the very first series of Africa’s Next Top Model and now she works all over the world. Here she is looking like a goddess on the catwalk.

Lagum has graced the pages of Vogue, among many other fashion mags,
and she was one of the models in Kanye West’s Yeezy collection.
