The donation comes two days after a New York judge refused to issue a court injunction to allow Kesha to record new music outside of her record label Sony Music, and without the input of producer Dr. Luke, who she claims sexually abused her.
‘In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time,’ a Swift’s spokesperson said in a written statement.
‘There has been no showing of irreparable harm. She’s being given opportunity to record.’
Kesha has not recorded music for over three years because she didn’t want to make music with a man she claims drugged, raped and abused her over a decade ago. Dr. Luke denied all these charges.
She has backing from many in the music industry including Demi Lovato, Lily Allen and Lady Gaga with a #FreeKesha campaign launched to support her during her continuing legal battle.
