
The Senegal international moved to Stamford Bridge last summer from Nantes but made just one appearance for the Blues before moving to Bremen on loan in January.
The 27-year-old’s has impressed the German outfit during his five appearances for the club but there is no deal in place beyond the expiry of his six-month loan deal.
However, Bremen’s CEO Thomas Eichin has confirmed that the club would like to keep the star on loan next season but suggested that they could not afford a permanent deal.
‘If Chelsea want to sell him, we’d be without a chance but should they want to get him more playing time first, we’d be in the mix,’ said Eichin.
