It’s been two years since Asia’s songbird aka the Mariah Carey of the Philippines and the Queen of Philippine Music, Regine Velasquez Alcasid
has performed in Los Angeles. She’s finally spreading her wings from
the Philippines with a special concert series in Southern California.
She’ll land with her power voice at the Pasadena Civic on May 22, 2016
at 5pm.
Brought to you by V Entertainment, Weny Khan Financials and
Edward Pascual TNG Real Estate Pinson Properties Inc in association with
Colina Salon, Image Spa MD, The Lewis Law Group, GMA Pinoy TV, Belo
Medical Group, Philippine Airlines and Rock Honda, her show dubbed
“Timeless,” will also feature guest artists John Gummoe of the Cascades,
Filipino rock group favorites INTRoVOYS, Hundred Voices of LA Choirs,
Jacklyn Rose, Rodward Gutierrez and Jewel Yu.
Regine Velasquez is considered one of the most influential
artists in Asia. Her strong vocal prowess and technique has said to have
influenced various vocalists for years since she stepped on the
international stage winning the Grand Prize at the 1989 Asia Pacific
Singing Contest in Hong Kong. Velasquez Alcasid is also considered the
first Asian artist to appear at Carnegie Hall for its centennial year
concert series.
She has worked and performed with various music icons such
as Michel Legrand, Paul Anka, Dave Koz, Jim Brickman, Peabo Bryson,
Brian McKnight, Ronan Keating, Jacky Cheun and Alicia Keys. She also
sang “More Than Words Can Say” with the affable David Hasselhoff.
As a special treat during her “Timeless” show, Regine will
be performing with John Gummoe. Gummoe is known as the lead vocalist for
The Cascades. The group had the 1960’s hit single “Rhythm Of The Rain.”
The versatile singer also is an actress in her native
Philippines with scores of films and television shows she’s been
featured in including “Of All The Things” and “Pangako Ikaw Lang.”
Regine Velasquez Alcasid is currently starring in GMA Network’s / GMA Pinoy TV’s comedy drama series “Poor Senorita.”
This is her first regular TV series since her hiatus from series
production five years ago. In the show, Velasquez Alcasid plays Rita, an
heiress and head of the most successful perfume business in the country
called Senorita Scent. Although her business life is a success, her
personal life is less to be desired as a loveless single woman who is
feared by many for her stern and strict attitude.
In a weird twist of faith, Rita loses her business empire
and literally lands on a rooftop of the home of five poor children.
Through her relations with the children, she finds the true value of
love, family and happiness in her life.
“Poor Senorita” also stars Mikael Daez, Ayra Mariano, Jillian Ward, Miggs Cuarderno, Zymic Jaranilla and Caprice Cayetano. The show airs in the Philippines on GMA-7 while airing internationally and in the United States on GMA Pinoy TV.
Interestingly, Regine Velasquez Alcasid also sings the theme song to the show, “Tunay Na Kayamanan” (True Wealth).
Hopefully, we may hear her sing the theme song during her
“Timeless” concert appearance at the Pasadena Civic. According to
concert producer Vic Perez of V Entertainment, she plans to serenade the
concert goers with her hit songs such as “Kung Maibabaik Ko Lang,”
“Narito Ako,” “Urong Sulong,” “Ikaw,” “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” “Tuwing
Umuulan at Kapiling Ka,” “Nandiyan Palagi” and her English language
favorites “You’ve Made Me Stronger,” “You Are My Song,” “On The Wings Of
Love” plus many more.
