Daisy Ridley is going #NoFilter where it counts.
The Star Wars: The Force Awakens actress
got personal on Instagram in a powerful message about self-esteem,
alongside a selfie that boasted, "I woke up like this #nomakeup
#nofilter."
"3 of these statements aren't true... Social media
is great but also a bit scary cause what people post is the most
filtered, most carefully chosen and cleverly edited moments of their
lives," the 24-year-old star explains. "And self-esteem is a huge issue
for people around the world."
Ridley, who recently hit back at body shamers
and refused to apologize for "how she looks," went on to reveal her own
insecurities, saying, "My skin isn't great, so I don't post no makeup
selfies, much as I'd like to."
"I have a trainer urging me on in workouts and
don't include all the times I say 'I can't do it' and I don't smile all
the time but I like to share the pictures where I am," she added.
Still, in the end, she writes, "I actually do love
myself. I try to think good thoughts always and am surrounded by the
most wonderful people, so I'm keeping it balanced (like the Force,
obvs)."
Ridley also shared a look inside her gym routine,
revealing, "There was an UNBELIEVABLE amount of swearing (cursing to you
Americans!) during today's workout...oooooosh it was a tough one."
And the burger she ate later. "Rehearsal plus burger, happy MOI," she said.
Ridley raps and co-star John Boyega beat boxes in a hilarious first look at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens special features.
