MADRID: Valencia have suspended Algerian international
Sofiane Feghouli until the completion of a disciplinary procedure
against the 26-year-old amid reports he refused to take part in a
training session following Sunday's 2-1 win over Sevilla.
"Valencia have decided to open a disciplinary procedure
involving player Sofiane Feghouli," Valencia said in a statement on
Monday. "During the processing of said procedure, and awaiting the
resolution of the matter, the player will be suspended as a cautionary
measure."
Feghouli was introduced as a second-half substitute at the
weekend as Valencia took a huge step towards ensuring their place in the
Spanish top flight next season with victory in Pako Ayestaran's first
home game in charge since replacing the sacked Gary Neville.
However, Spanish sports daily Marca and Valencian newspaper
Superdeporte reported Feghouli refused to take part in a warm-down after
the game having also missed a training session last week. Feghouli is
expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the
season.
