Sweet memories! As the 2016 Met Gala approaches, Kim Kardashian is taking a moment to reflect on past balls. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, attended the Met Gala in 2014 and shared a few #TBT photos on her website, kimkardashianwest.com.
Kardashian, who shares two children with husband Kanye West, stunned in a blue strapless Lanvin gown designed by former creative director Alber Elbaz. The sleek satin number featured a thigh-high split that caused a minor wardrobe malfunction (her panties were showing!) at one point during the evening. Diamond drop earrings by Lorraine Schwartz sparkled in her ears … and were the one accessory that remained in place that night!
After she had her last fitting at the Lanvin store in New York City on that fateful first Monday in May, the mom of North and Saint was photographed with a thick black belt around her waist and two leather cuffs on each wrist. But when she stepped on the carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the belt and cuffs were gone.
“In the car on our way there we got a glimpse of the carpet, and I decided the accessories were a bit too 'rock 'n' roll' and I wanted to go for something more simple and elegant,” she later explained on her blog. So she “switched to a clean black satin belt and strappy heels” to fit the theme of the evening, which paid homage to 1940s designer Charles James.
There’s no word on what Kardashian is wearing this year, but she did share one sentiment on her website: “I'm SO excited,” she wrote. “I can't wait to show you guys what I'm wearing.”
