Don’t mess with Queen Bey! Beyoncé released her brand new album, Lemonade, on Saturday, April 23, immediately after the accompanying mini-movie aired on HBO — and it caused quite a stir!
In one of the powerful new songs, titled “Sorry,” the
34-year-old entertainer slams her lover for being unfaithful with a
woman that she refers to as “Becky.” Shortly after the film debuted,
fashion designer Rachel Roy took to Instagram and hinted that she’s the mistress in question.
On “Sorry,” Beyoncé, who is married to Jay Z,
chants, “Middle fingers up, put them hands high. Wave it in his face,
tell him, boy, bye ... I ain’t thinking ‘bout you!” At the end of the
unapologetic track, she jabs, “He better call Becky with the good hair.”
The lyrics quickly went viral as the Beyhive pondered why
anyone would ever cheat on Beyoncé, and wondered who is this “Becky”
chick?!
Roy, 42, was reportedly the root of Jay Z, 46, and Solange Knowles’ mysterious elevator fight
in May 2014. On Saturday, the designer posted a photo of herself and
one of her pals on Instagram with the caption, “Good hair don’t care,
but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always.
Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”
Beyoncé’s dedicated fanbase immediately dragged Roy as they
flooded her Instagram comments with lemon emojis and comments including,
“Stupid b--ch don’t you know bees sting !!!!!” and “Your hair smells
like wet dog Becky!”
The stylist’s Wikipedia page was also briefly
hacked. She has since deleted the Instagram photo and made her account
private, but fans soon migrated over to Roy’s 16-year-old daughter Ava
Dash’s Instagram comments.
Lemonade features a handful of songs about
an adulterous suitor, including a spoken word intro on which Beyoncé
says, “So what are you gonna say at my funeral now that you’ve killed
me? ... Her heaven will be a love without betrayal. Ashes to ashes, dust
to side chicks.”
