The Singapore High Commission in London says the tea set, packaged as a tiffin carrier, bears Peranakan motifs and images of the orchid named after Queen Elizabeth II.
SINGAPORE: To mark her 90th birthday on Thursday (Apr 21),
President Tony Tan Keng Yam has given Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II a
specially-crafted Tiffin tea set.
In a Facebook post, the Singapore High Commission in London
said the gift celebrates the Queen’s warm ties with Singapore. It
consists of a teapot with Peranakan motifs and tea cups with images of
Dendrobium Elizabeth Orchid - the orchid named after her majesty, the
High Commission said.

Images of places in Singapore that were named after the
Britain's longest-reigning monarch, such as Queenstown and Queen
Elizabeth Walk, are featured on the lid of the teapot. There are also
coasters styled after Peranakan tiles, a specially commissioned tea
blend named “Orchid Majesty”, as well as a collection of poems and
writings by Singaporeans from different walks of life.
According to the High Commission, the tea set was
conceptualised and put together by a group of craftsmen in Singapore.
“They took inspiration from Chinese tea sets, Indian tiffin carriers and
Peranakan tiles, capturing the multiculturalism and community cohesion
that the Queen admired about Singapore during her visits to our
country,” it wrote on Facebook.
The tea set was made by Mud Rock, a Singapore ceramic
studio. Co-founder of the studio Michelle Lim shared the post by the
High Commission, declaring that they were the "lucky ducks" who got to
produce the tea set. She added: "Worked with an amazing group of talents
that all helped make it happen. Happy birthday Queen E2!"
