The creators of a historical PC game set aboard the sinking
Titanic released detailed and annotated video depicting the tragedy
inside and outside the ship in real time – all 2 hours and 41 minutes.
The computer rendering by Vintage Digital Revival does not include
details like passengers and crew frantically trying to save their lives,
but it is harrowing nonetheless to watch the ship list, tilt into the
sky, break in half and slide beneath the icy North Atlantic after
striking an iceberg late on April 14, 1912. As many as 1,635 passengers and crew died out of an estimated 2,224 aboard.
Vintage is building "Titanic: Honor and Glory," which will
allow PC gamers to "see what it was like to be on the ship" from
boarding at the dock until the time "unsinkable" Titanic sank. A free
demo of the game is available on their website.

Since the video was posted to YouTube, it's had more than 3.3 million views. The designers posted details on its creation to their Facebook page.
"It shows the ship's general sinking progress, as well as
lifeboat launches, rockets firing, and the Californian on the horizon.
You'll see funnels falling and the ship breaking up in the final
moments, and the final positions of the lifeboats at 2:20AM. This is NOT
a sped-up animation or a short animation slowed to be real-time. This
is a fully real-time recreation of the sinking, from just before the
collision to just after the sinking. 2 hours and 41 minutes."
