Bachelor Jordan Mauger cut a lonely figure yesterday, looking forlorn at work on the set of international TV show Ash vs Evil Dead, and staying out of the public limelight.

The public has vilified him on social media since news broke he dumped Fleur Verhoeven only hours after the pair had made their relationship public.

Now the 32-year-old's friends have rallied in support of the star.

He told Scout his friend is loyal and fun-loving, who went on a reality show for an adventure.

"It was just a reality TV show, some people have lost sight of that, " he said. "The show's over back to ACTUAL reality."

Hall and Mauger have shared many fun times together. His wife, who is due to give birth tomorrow, told Scout she was determined to attend Monday's party and support Jordan, "because he would do the same for us".

Photographer Sarah Ivey, also a longtime friend, took to Facebook to support Mauger too.
She wrote: "Perhaps you don't know Jordan well, perhaps you don't know him at all... We know who he is, where he comes from and the values he holds dear to him.

"Jordan has been our friend since childhood and he's always had our backs. He's a good man and always does what's right," Ivey wrote. "He's been falsely portrayed and enough is enough, it's gone too far. The public only see what the media choose to show them."

Another pal, Sarah Nutt, came to Mauger's defense too.

"I'm struggling to understand how there's so much negative press about such a decent, genuine bloke. Can an actor not be looking for love?," she asked.
"Who on earth would stay in a relationship when there's no chemistry or spark? There always had to be a winner for the show, clearly that hasn't translated to reality."
Mauger himself relayed the same sentiment when he put out a statement yesterday through a publicist to stop the hate and explain his actions.
"For the last 7 weeks, Fleur and myself shared concerns and doubts over that time. Hoping that feelings would reignite again," he said. "After a long absence and only seeing her for the first time onstage, I knew something was a miss."
He added: "It is a great shame the feelings I had on the show haven't translated into real life."
