JOHOR BAHRU: Legoland Malaysia on Tuesday (May
3) put the final pieces to complete what is touted to be the world's
largest Lego Millennium Falcon.
Built by father-son Lego Master Builder team
Dan and Christopher Steiniger, the model is based on a similar build in
last year's Star Wars Day celebration in Melbourne. The model of the
modified Corellian YT-1300 freighter - piloted by the characters Han
Solo and his Wookiee first mate Chewbacca - took 250,000 bricks and more
than 50 hours over the weekend to complete.
The duo said “it was only possible due to the thousands of children who helped” piece the iconic spacecraft together.
Apart from the 4.8-metre long “fastest hunk of
junk in the galaxy”, visitors to Legoland Malaysia in May will also get
to see two replicas of the TIE fighters from the latest Star Wars
movie, The Force Awakens.
The first week of May is traditionally the
biggest one on the Star Wars calendar. Starting with May 4, fans from
around the world celebrate the light and dark factions of director
George Lucas’ Star Wars from 1977.
The date was chosen as a pun on Star Wars mantra “May the force be with you”.
