Michael Strahan wants out, and fast. The NFL stud turned journalist has just two weeks left at ‘Live,’ but he doesn’t want to sit next next to Kelly Ripa for that long. Read on for all the EXCLUSIVE details.
Michael Strahan, 44, has to wait until May 13 before he leaves Live! with Kelly & Michael. But that’s too long of a stay for the former NFL legend. HollywoodLife.com is EXCLUSIVELY reporting that the journalist wants to leave Live! yesterday, following the drama that ensued after the announcement of his future exit!
Michael’s tired of being “bullied” by his 45-year-old co-star. According to TMZ,
that’s what Kelly did to him. The website claims the muscular co-host
wasn’t being treated well and that he wants to work in an environment
that appreciates and respects his talents. And now, we’re told that day can’t come soon enough. “Mike’s not a fake person,” a source close to him told HollywoodLife.com.
“There was no way he was about to sit up there, next to Kelly,
uncomfortable, knowing there’s tension between them. The mind games and
awkward conversations between him and Kelly remind him of playing
football — it hurts and he’s got a huge headache,” the source explained.
“Mike’s grateful to the show, the staff, the viewers and even to Kelly.
But his end date couldn’t come sooner.”
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Kelly made her triumphant return
back to the desk on Apr. 26. This, of course, comes days after Michael
blindsided her with the news he was leaving. The duo entered the stage
holding hands. Michael went to the desk and Kelly walked to the front of
the set to address to cheering crowd. “Guys, our long national
nightmare is over! Please sit down,” she said. “I first want to
honestly, sincerely thank you for welcoming be me back to this show. The
love, the show of support to this bizarre time has been really
overwhelming. I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts,” Kelly
continued. “After 26 years with this company, I earned the right—and
let’s be honest, I know all of you called in sick to be here!” It was an
emotional speech and most importantly for Kelly, she said her bosses
have no intentions of of getting rid of the show. “Our parent company
has assured me that Live! is a priority. There is a commitment to the show.”
