Once Upon A Time
Hades revealed he would take their names off the headstones if Emma helped him get Zelena back — alive. Hades met with Rumple and Peter, who had Zelena. Hades didn’t hesitate to rip the contract that required Rumple and Belle to give their baby to him.
Pan tried to take Zelena’s heart, but Emma stopped him. Rumple quickly left after he’d gotten what he wanted. Everyone was pretty shocked that Hades had just ripped up the contract for Zelena. He said he would do anything for her. After his sacrifice, his heart started beating again.
Now a fully-formed portal opened back up to Storybrooke, but
it would close at sunset. Hades had to hold up his end of the bargain
now before they all went on their merry way. Hades did what he promised —
he took Emma, David and Regina’s names off the headstone.
The Ultimate Journey For Love
Emma tried to bring Hook “back to life” with her heart —
just like Snow had done with David — but it didn’t work. His soul had
already left his body. So now Emma and Hook had to go to the deepest
part of the Underworld in order for Hook to be able to leave.
But only one couple had ever made it out alive — Orpheus and
Eurydice — by eating ambrosia. Emma would have to offer up her heart as
judgment down there. Before leaving, Emma made Regina promise she would
make everybody leave if her and Hook weren’t back before sunset.
Back in March 2009, Emma was on the hunt to find out more
about her family. This woman had followed her all the way from Arizona,
where Emma had skipped bail. The woman had Emma in handcuffs, but Emma
easily escaped. Emma was just about to leave when she saw a record
locator on the woman’s computer. She found out that a county courthouse
had a file on her.
Emma agreed to go back to Phoenix with the woman if she
would help her find out who she is. When they went to the courthouse,
they found nothing. Emma got really upset. She went back later, and the woman followed her again. She claimed to know things about her family, or at least what it felt like to not have one.
As they escaped from the courthouse, the woman got fatally injured.
One year later, Emma found the woman’s daughter and revealed that her
mother was dead. On the way out, she found her red leather jacket and
put it on!Weighing True Love
Back in the Underworld, Regina urged Robin to take the baby
to the portal. He didn’t want to leave without Regina. Regina told Robin
to hand the baby over to Zelena. Robin was not a fan of that idea.
Regina begged him to trust Zelena, which he did. Suddenly, when no one
was looking, Rumple showed up and took Robin’s heart. Pan had offered up
Pandora’s Box to keep Belle safe in exchange for a heart. Ugh.
Henry was busy fixing people’s unfinished business when
Cruella de Vil walked up. She wanted to keep everyone in the Underworld.
She was out for revenge and used the Blind Witch to trap them.
Emma and Hook made it down below, and she had to weigh her
heart to see if her love for Hook was true. Dang. What pressure. Hook
was understandably a little worried. “Are you certain?” he asked. Emma
put her heart down without hesitation, but it didn’t work.
But then Emma fell to the floor in pain. Hook tried to grab her heart
but Hook became consumed by flames! Emma pushed him to the floor, and
the flames disappeared. That’s when the door opened. Emma and Hook’s love was true! That Darn Hades
But they found the ambrosia was dead. Someone had cut it — HADES! He didn’t want Hook and Emma going back to Storybrooke. Simultaneously, Regina realized that it was Hades who had trapped them in the library. That darn Hades! He was at the portal with Zelena, who didn’t want to leave Regina behind. But she went with Hades anyway.Once Hook realized they were out of options, Hook revealed he was going to stay in the Underworld. At first, Emma refused to go without him, but she knew it was what he wanted. “I don’t know how to say goodbye,” she cried. “Then don’t,” he said. They made promises to each other. She made him promise that she wouldn’t be his unfinished business.
“I love you,” they both said, through tears. They kissed and
held hands until Emma couldn’t reach him anymore as she was taken up by
the elevator. It was just like when Rose was forced to get on the boat
without Jack in Titanic. It was such a devastating scene.
Emma’s Devastating Choice
Emma made it back up, and everyone was shocked to see Hook
wasn’t with her. They all agreed to give Hook his last wish — getting
out of the Underworld. Emma and Regina put their magic together to break
the Blind Witch’s spell.
Before Rumple headed back to Storybrooke with Belle in
Pandora’s box, he had one last score to settle with Pan. On the sly,
Rumple had returned Robin’s heart. He had given Pan a fake heart filled
with water from the River of Lost Souls. Bye, bye, Pan!
Everyone had made it through the portal except David and
Emma. She was torn over whether or not to truly leave Hook behind. She
realized she couldn’t lose anyone else. So she went through the portal
back to Storybrooke!
