Allison Williams had the most beautiful hairstyle of the night at the 2016 Met Gala. Slightly volumized in the front, in the back, Allison’s updo was actually made up of fishtail braids with pearl and crystal embellished hair accessories. Get the exact how-to, below!
Allison Williams, 28, attended the NYC Met Gala on April 2 with a head-to-toe Manus x Machina-inspired look that was subtle yet still beautiful. Dressed in a custom Peter Pilotto
one-shoulder gown that included embroidered 3-D printed flowers and
Swarovski crystals, Allison completed her look with a berry red lip and
intricate updo.
Allison’s fishtail braided hairstyle looked
stunning on the red carpet, and also happens to be perfect for the
wedding season ahead. Working with amika, hairstylist Rebekah Forecast created the textured updo that included fishtail braids and embellished hair accessories woven throughout.
To get the look, Rebekah started by applying amika Bombshell Blowout Spray
throughout Allison’s hair while it was damp to boost her hair’s natural
volume and protect it from heat damage. After blow drying her hair,
Rebekah added more volume at the root with the amika Digital Titanium Glide Styler.
Next, she began dividing the hair into sections, applying amika Curl Defining Cream
throughout for volume and shine as she fishtail braided Allison’s hair
in a spiral formation around her head. Once the hair was braided,
Rebekah gently pulled at the braids and sprayed them with amika Un.Done Texture Spray to add thickness and hold.
With all of the braids pinned into a spiraled knot, Rebekah locked the look in place with amika Touchable Hairspray.
Adding some sparkle to her look, pearl and crystal embellished
accessories were pinned throughout Allison’s braid. At the end of the
night, Allison shared an Instagram with all of her pins, sparkly clips and hair extensions, showing just how much really goes into a big event like the Met.
