Susan Sarandon arrested at anti-Trump rally over immigration policy

Susan Sarandon was reportedly arrested for taking part in a sit-in protest over Donald Trump’s immigration policy. The Thelma And Louise star was allegedly one of 575 people charged with ‘unlawfully demonstrating’ at the Department of Justice, according to BBC News. And, taking to Twitter, the 71-year-old appeared to confirm the news on her Twitter page, as she urged others to keep going. ‘Arrested. Stay strong. Keep fighting. #WomenDisobey,’ she wrote to her 599,000 followers.

But police presence hasn’t put protestors off, as there is another one planned for tomorrow. They were protesting against the government’s migration policy – which saw more than 2,000 children separated from their parents at the border between the US and Mexico. The world was shocked after photos emerged of the kids being forced to sleep in cages as they were taken from their caregivers. Trump later u-turned on the policy, and signed an executive order to end the heartbreak and ‘keep families together’.
nd, following his decision, Benicio del Toro called for a ‘fair and empathetic’ solution to the crisis. The 51-year-old recently finished filming Sicario 2 on the same border where the families were separated. ‘Most of these families, when they make that decision to leave their own countries, their culture, their language, to go to another country where they don’t know anybody, with nothing. I think people think that’s an easy decision,’ he explained.
