There was pandemonium yesterday in Agbado-Ijaiye, a border community between Lagos and Ogun State, yesterday, when an air force officer attached to the Lagos State crime fighting outfit, Operation Mesa (OP-MESA), shot and killed a commercial motorcyclist and another air force personnel.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the security patrol team made up of infantry soldiers and air force personnel apprehended the motorcyclist whose operation has been restricted in the state and allegedly demanded for money from him.
Sources said one of the officers of OP-MESA who demanded for money from the rider later descended on him when he failed to part with some money before shooting him.
Witnesses said the air force man shot the motorcyclist at close range and he died instantly from the wounds of the gun shot while one of his colleagues, who attempted to challenge the brutality, suffered the same fate as he was also fatally gunned down.
Residents who saw the tragic development were said to have reported the matter at the Ojokoro Police Station where the police chased the officers of OP-MESA and arrested them.
