ATM Didn’t Give Woman Her Money, So She Took Matters Into Her Own Hands

A Chinese woman recently decided to grab herself a bit of cash from a nearby ATM, but when it didn’t go as planned, things got a little out of hand. After realizing that the machine wasn’t going to give up the requested money, she proceeded to dismantle and completely destroy the ATM – with her bare hands.

News of the incident is coming from Dongguan where the woman reportedly took matters into her own hands on October 16th inside the Jinshawan Shopping Mall. Needless to say, the overreaction caused quite a stir as the mall became a standstill of onlookers watching as the woman went berserk.
Shilong Police have since come forward saying they believe the woman suffers from mental issues. According to ChinaSmack:

A relevant representative of the Shilong Jingshawan Shopping Mall loss prevention department told this Southern Metropolis Daily reporter that at around 5:50pm on October 16th, this woman arrived at the ATM next to the escalator.
“Afterward, we seen from the surveillance footage this woman dismantle the ATM, with security guards being dispatched to the scene after reports, but she had taken the ATM apart within a short few minutes,” the representative said.
At the time, the woman stood next to the ATM mumbling to herself, pounding on the machine every so often.

The representative went on to say, “After dismantling the machine, she even stood there as if nothing had happened, but was then taken back to the police station once police arrived.”
Further describing how she was successful in obliterating the machine with just her bare hands, a loss prevention department representative relayed, “We can see from the mall’s security cameras that she first pried off the plastic frame/case off the sides of the ATM, and then forcefully tore out the computer display.”

Several photos of the incident have been released, showing the woman simply standing by her work of art as the ATM is seen utterly dismantled. With its machine guts ripped out and rolls of receipt paper strewn about, it’s a wonder the woman acted in such a way as she told police that the ATM belonged to her friend and that it was okay for her to break it.
Needless to say, the woman – who reportedly operates under normal civility when properly medicated – had gone without her medication for a few days, prompting her erratic and unpredictable behavior.
