As ISIS continues to commit some of the most horrendous acts in recent times, it’s no wonder that many are seeking to disassociate themselves from the extremist organization. Most recently, the nation of Switzerland has taken the most astounding steps to do just that as they banned ISIS entirely.
According to The Conservative Tribune:The Swiss cabinet voted to outlaw ISIS membership for a minimum of six months, including collecting funds and engaging in recruiting efforts within Switzerland. The ban also includes providing information about ISIS within the country. The Swiss government cited the terrorist organization’s “grave violations of human rights” as one of the main reasons for the ban.Depending on the severity of the violation, those found guilty of breaking the newly founded law could face anywhere between a fine or up to three years behind bars.
Breitbart reports that, “Switzerland’s Federal Intelligence Service has estimated that around twenty-five Swiss nationals have left their home country for the jihad in Iraq and Syria.” Although it may seem minuscule, these 25 nationals are enough of a threat to prompt the country into action.
It’s often overlooked the frequency of citizens that run away from their home country to join the ranks of ISIS or other extremist organizations during times of battle only to return home once the fighting has ended. Mad World News even reported of such an incident where two Austrian girls joined ISIS to fight only to later realize it wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be and that they’d made a serious mistake.
What do you think of this – is this ban something that could become wide-spread or does political correctness have too strong a grasp on society in order for that to happen? Let us know in the comments below.
