When a Florida teen went to pick up his mom from work, he
was prepared to wait a bit for her to wrap up, but he didn’t expect to
see what a stranger was doing as he lurked around in the dark, wreaking
of bad intentions. That’s when the suspect found himself on the
receiving end of a boy who was raised by an awesome mom.
Nate Stewart, 17, was minding his own business outside
the Lakeland gas station where his mom works. He was there to pick her
up after her shift, but she was taking a little longer than usual. Nate
was sitting alone in the car when he peered out the window and saw a man
randomly threatening him with a knife.
The creepy degenerate lurking around the lot, later
identified as 32-year-old Luther Dunn, was in search of someone to steal
cash from. He thought the teen was the perfect victim to target, but he
couldn’t have been more wrong. He quickly learned the error of a series
of bad decisions, and the lesson was taught by a kid almost half his
age.
Nate ran into the station to give the guy an option to leave
without issue, while also making sure his mom wasn’t next on his hit
list. When Dunn didn’t get the hint, Nate took matters into his own
hands to let him know he just messed with the wrong mama’s boy. The
criminal didn’t leave, so Nate went back out to his car to escape. Sure
enough, the suspect went for round two, but this time he wasn’t given
the “get out of jail free” card.

Nate did what he had to do to protect himself and his mother
from this man who showed he was willing to stop at nothing to get a few
bucks. “If he wouldn’t have brought the weapon, I wouldn’t have been
worried about it, because he was just talking, but once he pulled out
the weapon, I mean I didn’t have no choice,” Nate explained to WFTS News.
Dunn was reportedly taken to the hospital to get medical
attention for his wounds, but once that was done, he was arrested on
charges of attempted armed robbery. For the mom’s part, she’s proud of
her boy, and rightfully so. Having not a mean bone in his body, the
mother had no idea how strong Nate is, until that night. The situation
brought out the protector in this kid who was obviously raised right to
stand up for those he loves, while others would probably just make
excuses for the criminal’s bad behavior.
