CY-FAIR, Texas - A man is recovering in the hospital after he was ambushed and shot outside his normally quiet Cy-Fair home.
The gunmen are still on the run. Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies do not believe this was a random act; in fact, the victim’s sister thinks the whole thing was supposed to be a hit job.
“I've been upset,” said Taylor, “I'm so, so upset. I just want to know who done this.”
Deputies are calling this a targeted home invasion. It happened at about 6:45 Thursday morning at a home on Trail Ridge Drive.
“Around like 6:38 or 6:40 I heard a gunshot and a lady scream like bloody murder,” said neighbor Charlie Eadah, “and there was like maybe four more shots after.”
Neighbors say the victim was shot right in front of his pregnant daughter as he was taking her to school. On Thursday, several bullet casing were left behind on the street and even the neighbor’s house was hit.
“I was kind of speechless about what happened,” said Eadah. “Especially in the neighborhood that you've lived in for 16 years!”
However, Taylor doesn’t think this was just a home invasion.
“If they was trying to rob him they would've just shot him. They would not have shot him and left. They intended to get paid to kill him.”
Family says the victim was shot in the abdomen, underwent surgery and is recovering in the hospital. They’re hoping for an arrest soon.
“I wish they are caught. But if they come in my face I'm gonna deck ‘em. I’m not gonna play with them.”
Although deputies do not believe this was a random act, no motive has been released. On Thursday deputies removed several items from the victim’s home in evidence bags. It’s not clear what the items were or why they were collected.
