The rumours won’t come as a major shock to Bond fans, given that Craig, 47, did say he’d ‘rather slash his wrists’ than do a fifth Bond film last year.
But it will no doubt be of disappointment to the Bond franchise bigwigs who may have thought they could tempt him back.
After ten years and four films as Bond, Craig is now gearing up to start filming Purity, which is based on Jonathan Franzen’s novel.

As of yet, the series doesn’t have a confirmed broadcaster, with Showtime, Netflix, FX and Amazon in a bidding war to get it, according to The Sun.
Craig’s exit follows director Sam Mendes’ departure from the franchise also, after he decided 2015’s Spectre would be his last outing.
Daniel first played Bond in the 2006 film Casino Royale and went on to star as 007 in Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre.
Asked last October if he was planning on doing a fifth film, he told Time Out: ‘Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.’

There have been a host of names linked to taking the baton from Daniel, including Damian Lewis, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender.
What advice would Daniel give them? ‘Literally I’d say two things. Firstly, it’s your decision. Don’t listen to anybody else. Well, do listen to everybody, but you have to make the choice at the end of the day. It’s your bed to lie on.
‘And don’t be shit! Don’t be shit. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be shit.’
