Welbeck, who has been sidelined for nine months with a serious knee injury, successfully lasted the best part of an hour as the Arsenal youth side ran out comfortable 4-1 victors over Brighton and Hove Albion.
Earlier this week we brought the news of an update from Arsene Wenger regarding Welbeck’s rehabilitation, the Arsenal boss revealing plans for the club to step actions to prepare him for first-team football.
‘Danny Welbeck is stepping up his rehabilitation,’ he said.
‘We have to remember that he has not played since April 2015 and will need a game with the Under-21s, where we can monitor him.’
Despite not getting himself on the
scoresheet for the academy side, Welbeck’s introduction to competitive
football looks to have been a success as the England international aims
to return to full fitness in a bid to aid Arsenal’s somewhat stuttering
Premier League title bid.
