Rail control staff are the latest to threaten industrial action, and they say that a row over safety is to blame.
The Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) said its members are to be balloted for industrial action unless discussions with the heads of the London Underground fail to materialise in the next few days.
The TSSA said it had been been pushing LU management to meet to discuss control staff responsibilities and its general secretary, Manuel Cortes, has appealed to London mayor Boris Johnson to resolve the dispute.
‘He has never replied and LU’s repeated refusal to engage on crucial issues with union negotiators is now straining the patience of those charged with keeping the Tube running safely,’ said Mr Cortes.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport union is also involved in a dispute with LU over safety.
Steve Griffiths, Chief Operating Officer at London Underground, said: ‘Safety is always our top priority and we have robust and comprehensive procedures in place to ensure the safety of our staff.
‘TSSA’s threat to ballot for strike action is unnecessary – we urge them to continue to talk to us to resolve their concerns and avoid subjecting Londoners to another pointless strike threat.’
