Volvo is recalling 59,000 cars over faulty software that can briefly shut down the engine while driving.
Seven thousand of the cars will be recalled in the UK after the Swedish brand discovered the glitch in the engine system.
Volvo spokesman Stefan Elfstrom said there has been no reports of any accidents caused by the glitch but said the experience ‘isn’t a nice one’ for affected customers.

Five 2016 diesel models are affected by the recall, which include the S60, V60, XC60, V70 and XC70.
Mr Elfstrom said that the glitch doesn’t cause too much trouble as the engine and electric system start up again immediately but it is just ‘unpleasant’ to have.

Most of the affected cars have been sold in Sweden, Britain and Germany.
Volvo will begin writing to affected car owners to ask them to contact their local dealership for the fault to be fixed for a no-charge fix.
