We’re entirely obsessed with the new oil slick lips trend

Remember that time everyone was getting their hair inspiration from petrol puddles?
Well, it’s 2016. And that strangely gorgeous hair trend has now made its way to our lips (with a brief detour onto our nails).
Presenting oil slick lips. Not, as the name might suggest, a super moisturising treatment for your chapped winter-wrecked lips, but a new lipgloss style that’s all over the coolest makeup artists’ Instagrams (H/T Seventeen).
The trend is also occasionally referred to as holographic or mermaid lips, thanks to the swirled metallic shades of deep blues, purple, and grey.
There’s no actual oil involved – just careful mixing of metallic lipglosses and lipsticks to replicate that oil slick finish. Fancy. We reckon Kylie Jenner would be a fan. But it’s totally worth it to look this fierce.
