Beyonce has dropped a new visual album, Lemonade, but it is a cryptic message posted by fashion designer Rachel Roy – whose close connection to Jay Z once sparked affair rumours – that is being scrutinised and making headlines.
Beyonce’s Lemonade project seems to hint at Jay Z’s infidelity in multiple tracks, and in the one song ‘Sorry', Beyonce proclaims, “He better call Becky with the good hair."
Roy appeared to taunt Beyonce after she dropped the cheating diss track on her surprise new album.
The New York based fashion designer - and former wife of Jaz Z’s ex business partner Damon Dash – sent a dig to Beyonce by posting a selfie of her laughing in the back of a car just hours after the record dropped.

She captioned the now deleted image: “Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting for selfies, or self truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”

The post immediately sparked speculation among fans that Roy had just outed herself as the subject in the singer’s song ‘Sorry’. Beyonce fans were not impressed, taking to social media to air their views and attack Roy.
Several hours later, Roy took down the post before making her Instagram account private.
Roy appeared to respond to the onslaught of fan backlash by tweeting: “I respect love, marriages, families and strength. What shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone, no matter what, is bullying of any kind.
Two years ago, Roy was linked to Jay Z after Beyonce’s sister Solange was caught on video punching and kicking the rapper in an elevator at a Met Gala after-party in New York.
Sources at the time said the attack was prompted by the hip-hop mogul getting too close to the fashion designer at the gala ball.
Beyonce, who was seen smirking as she exited the elevator and the incident, which she did not realise at the time had been caught on camera, has remained silent appeared the embarrassing episode which left Jay Z visibly shaken.
But she insinuates she was cheated on in her Lemonade project. The lyrics to ‘Sorry’ include: “Looking at my watch, he should been home. Today I regret the night I put that ring on. He always got them F**king excuses. I pray to the Lord you reveal what his truth is.”
In the song ‘Intuition’, Beyonce seems to be comparing Jay Z to her father, Matthew Knowles, who cheated on her mother, Tina. “Where do you go when you go quiet… You remind me of my father, a magician, able to exist in two places at once. In the tradition of men in my blood, you come home at 3 a.m. And lie to me. What are you hiding? The past, and the future, merge to meet us here. What luck. What a f**king curse."
The revelatory and explosive new album has left many to wonder if Jay Z and Beyonce’s marriage can survive.
