How awkward could it be?
According to E! News, Ripa sent an email Friday night to the Live!
staffers letting them know she’d be back to work. The email read,
“(Sorry for this late Friday night email). I wanted to thank you all for
giving me the time to process this new information. Your kindness,
support, and love has overwhelmed me,” she wrote. “We are a family and I
look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning. Love, Kelly.”
Reports say Ripa completely lost it
when she was told the news after last Tuesday’s taping, right before it
was announced publicly, and then did not show up for work on Wednesday, sparking rumors she was going to quit.
When Ripa still didn’t appear on the show Thursday, the
show’s reps said she and husband Mark Consuelos had already planned a
vacation in Turks and Caicos, to celebrate their 20th wedding
anniversary, so her absence was expected. The couple ended up not going,
says E!
Multiple sources have said she and Michael did not get along behind the scenes on Live!
but now, a source told E! that Strahan “has no bad blood towards her at
this point and is looking forward to start his new chapter with his new
team.”
Strahan told the Live! audiences on Thursday how
“thankful” he is for Kelly and how he is going to “miss everybody.” He
said, “It’s like my second family here… I’ve been sitting next to Kelly
every day and having a lot of fun on that show for the last four years.
I’m very thankful for her—to her—because I learned so much from her.”
Ripa has yet to comment on Strahan’s departure (guess she’ll probably say something on Tuesday), but was spotted out and about on Thursday, carrying a copy of Malcom Gladwell’s David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants.
Oh, Tuesday morning is going to be must-see TV!
